NM and its Wonderful Pottery Studios
I recently discovered on a trip to Taos that it is also a haven for pottery.

I love New Mexico. Its sparse desert landscape and mountain range peaking through. Its quiet and serene nature, but also wild and primal atmosphere. I recently discovered on a trip to Taos that it is also a haven for pottery. During our time driving around I discovered a bunch of stores and studios! One day driving to Taos Ski Valley for some skiing we passed through the town Arroyo Seco. Because of its slow speed limit I was able to actually read the signs and see it had a pottery studio! It was called Rottenstone Gallery. It had some of the wildest pieces, mostly hand-thrown from what I learned with the shop worker. Matthew fell in love with these mugs that were colorful and wood-fired, he bought two, one for me and one for him and we use them daily! A kiln process I have never had the pleasure of trying but hope to some day!
Later that week, we explored to Ojo Caliente and found Wannamaker Pottery. Where the pieces we had found earlier at Rottenstone are fired, and funnily enough the creator of plates and bowls we ate off of an enjoyed at Juliette in Taos! It was a lovely studio where we met Bina who showed off the studio behind the store and how their process works. They even have a studio cat. We got some cute cups by Unearthed Artworks, and went off on our way. Overall, the little discoveries of art and pottery on our drives around NM felt special and magical, and I cannot wait to go back. It also inspired me to build a small replica of the adobe we stayed at, a work in progress still that hopefully soon I can show off. More about NM and adobes soon!
